I love a good chick lit book like the next girl. I love a good Happily Ever After story and what makes a good chick lit in my opinion is a good storyline, relatable characters and just the right amount of comedy and romance. I’ve read my fair amount of chick lit books in my life and these are definitely some of my faves that I would recommend for anyone who’s looking for a good chick lit.
FAKER, BY SARAH SMITH
This is definitely one of my favorite chick lit books. It has everything to make it a perfect read: enemies to lover storyline, right amount of humour, great characters and a HEA. This book really surprised me because I wasn’t expecting to love it so much. Emmie and Tate are coworkers who can’t stand one another. However, when they are forced to team together for a work project, secrets are revealed, a bond is formed and maybe what they feel for each other is not hate after all, but something closer to love…
THE UNHONEYMOONERS, BY CHRISTINA LAUREN
Another friends to lovers book (what can I say, those are my fave). I’ve read many books from Christina Lauren and this is definitely one of my favorites from her. Olive and Ethan have never been able to stand one another. Now, forced to attend a wedding together as Maid of Honor and Best Man, they are determined to put on a brave face and tolerate one another. However, when the entire wedding party (including the bride and groom) get food poisoning, instead of letting a perfectly good Honeymoon go to waste, they decide to make the best out of a bad situation and go together. Pretending to be a happy couple isn’t soo bad when you actually start feeling like one.
MY (NOT SO) PERFECT LIFE, BY SOPHIE KINSELLA
Anything by Sophie Kinsella is an automatic read for me. She is one of my favorite authors and is truly gifted when it comes to creating characters that are hilarious. This book is no different. Katie Brenner strives to live the life she dreams about. However, when she gets fired from her job and is forced to move back home on her family’s farm, she’s determined to stay positive. When her former boss decides to vacation on her family farm, Katie decides to get a little revenge. But when her handsome crush also decides to show up, things get a little bit complicated…
THE FRIEND ZONE, BY ABBY JIMENEZ
Planning her best friend’s wedding isn’t so bad for Kristen who has her life planned out perfectly. She has no room for drama and for men who simply don’t get her. But when she meets the handsome best man who goes against everything she wants, keeping him in the friend zone is not just a necessity, but essential for her sanity. What happens when keeping him at arm’s length becomes harder and harder?
NO JUDGEMENT, BY MEG CABOT
Another pick from one of my fave authors, Meg Cabot. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book of hers that I didn’t love, and this one is not exception. Bree needs to start over, and what better place to do that then Little Bridge, Florida? When a Category 5 hurricane is threatening to hit the island she’s now come to call home, she decides to wait it out. Being the lover of animals that she is, she takes on the responsibility to look after the residents pets as they seek shelter elsewhere. However, as the hurricane approaches and the number of pets who need to be rescued increases, this is no longer a one person job. Help comes in the form of the island’s heartbreaker, Drew. And just when she’s about to fall hard for the man, she needs to ask herself if this is a love that’s meant to last, or is it simply a temporary fling?
